Island Mystery: Magical Nights With Fireflies

Island Mystery is a series in which I give you clues about the mysterious island paradise that I am living on.

Fireflies at night made the village I grew up in so magical. We have a special name for them on this island, which I will be telling soon after the reveal, which will be happening in just a few days!

Fireflies would be all around and in our house at nights. And we would catch them in bottles with holes, and they would light up our world at night.

Nights in that village were magical with fireflies♥

Happy Monday☺

Love,
Summer

  3. This post brings back wonderful memories of chasing fireflies (we called them lightning bugs) when I was a child.

  4. Growing up at home, lighting bugs will fill my yard. My dad and I would find a jar, punch holes in the lid and fill with grass...then the hunt was on. I would set the jar on my dresser and hope that it would work as a night light, but it never really did. I used to think it was because the bugs were sad that they were trapped and their lights would go out. Here in the desert, there don't seem to be lightning bugs in the summer...too bad...I wanted my girls to have the experience. :) Can't wait to hear about your lovely island. :)

  6. This post feels magical to me! Lighting bugs were always a big deal to me and the kids on my street. We would spend Summer nights collecting them in glass jars and telling stories about them. Can't wait to hear more about this! :)

  11. The fireflies swarm the trees in our backyard every Summer night. I use to catch them and put in a jar with holes in the lid on my grammas farm when I was a kid. Still love watching them. Janice

  12. We had them all over Wisconsin and I just took all my kids and grandkids home there this summer and the grandkids and the younger kids had never seen them! They are truly magical - like fairy lights in the summer. Thanks for coming to visit!

  13. We called them lightning bugs and we did the same thing --- usually it was an empty mayonnaise jar with holes punch in the lid with an ice pick.

We always let them go the next morning.
