Blogging: Writing About What You Love

One of the best things that I have done for myself in the world of blogging is to write about the things that I am passionate about.

In my spare time, I like browsing the web for pretty houses, decor ideas, gardens, recipes, pretty fabrics... The list goes one☺ So I write about those.

It could be just one thing that you are passionate about, or many. You can do that much, or just that little. Maybe it is that one thing that you love, or the whole museum of things that inspire you. But writing about what you love is like talking to a friend about something that you are comfortable talking about.

In my opinion, you don't have to do it all. Or you can do it all. It is up to you, as long as it is something you feel good about.

I think you have to be inspired in order to inspire. For me, that equals coming up with a post idea that makes me feel all fired up, writing that post with a smile on my face, then feeling happy about pressing the publish button and passing on the joy☺

There must be a spark to start a fire!

What are you passionate about when it comes to blogging?

Happy Thursday♥

Love,
Summer

  10. I find myself blogging with the inspiration or fire inside me burns. For mmore, blogging is using my voice. Over the years, I have developed and focused on what matters to me. Yet, I see this in other blogs too. Some share this passion of opportunity with gratitude and it is such a blessing.

  13. Summer, how interesting that we both just posted about blogging! That's something I never do. I just post about food (and tea and wine; and food-, tea- and wine-related travel once in a while). I wish my mother was alive to participate in it; she was a world-class cook and lived in the kitchen! Though I don't write them myself, I love reading blog posts about people's cats and gardens and other interests as well.

  19. There are definitely some posts more than others that I enjoy hitting the publish button on. I use some memes to keep me going and give me inspiration to keep taking photos. I'm a visual person so seeing things spur me on. Thank you for your kind comments on my blog.

  20. So true... it's hard to be good at anything if you're just not interested and/or knowledgeable about a particular subject!

  22. I am passionate about taking pictures, and when I put a few words to those pictures, that's good for me. I think that's why I like your blog so much; you don't go on and on with the writing. Simplicity filled with beauty, that's what your blog is to me, and I appreciate it very much.

  31. Having been blogging for 7 years now...some of my passion had dissipated to be honest. If I could have a more lifestyle oriented blog as you do, I think I would be happier. I adore cats and dogs (as you know, those are my blogs)........but it often is getting tiring. I LOVE taking photos of food and writing about food, who knows? catchatwithcarenandcody

  35. You nailed that one! I love all kinds of things, which is why the Marmelade Gypsy is eclectic. It may be art/craft/tutorials, possibly home/garden/decorating, sometimes cooking, sometimes books, travel whenever I can, or people, places and events that make my heart sing. The Cork Poppers page goes to loving wine. I don't write as many long form essays on the Gypsy now that I do Modern Creative Life pieces also, but sometimes -- and they are always on subjects that matter. Home, life, art and family.

I want it to be pretty, fun, warm and a place where people can feel like they are just hanging out with me. I try to avoid extremely divisive subjects as politics because there are other places where we can have those discussions. I want the Gypsy to feel safe, a spot to smile or maybe think or possibly be inspired.

I think many blogs evolve over time as we gain new interests and other passions fade. Sometimes that affects people who followed you for one thing. But that's OK. I love the comments! But for me, the numbers don't matter, but what does is that people who come leave feeling satisfied or smiling -- or at least that they didn't totally waste their time!

  36. Ah, I think you have found what you love to write about!

Darn it, I am NOT anonymous, I am DuneLight! From WordPress!! But Google does not like me. Likewise. :D
Blog on! We do not need approval to do so from multinational corporations who are sparring with each other.

  37. So true. I agree that whatever you blog about it must resonate within or it won't come out right to others. In my (just over) seven years of blogging, some things have changed and grown or been dropped off altogether. Currently, my favourite things to write about are those truths the Lord is teaching me and the everyday things of family life. Have a wonderful Saturday! Hugs, Camille
